The fluid would then move through the tiny holes as the piston moves in the pressure tube. The small amount of fluid entering the tiny holes will subsequently slow down the piston’s movement due to pressure.
In theory, a shock absorber works in two stages. The first stage is the compression cycle where the suspension moves downward and compressing the hydraulic fluid within the chamber underneath the piston. The second stage is the extension cycle which occurs during the upward movement of the suspension that compresses the fluid from above the piston. Furthermore, shock absorbers today are velocity sensitive. Meaning, the suspension resistance varies on how fast the spring is moving.
