How secure do you feel when you drive around your GMC vehicle? The use of a GMC seatbelt can add a great sense of security and safety for passengers. The first four types were common in older vehicle models but rarely used in today’s car design. The three-point seat belt is similar in design to the lap and sash except that it employs a single piece of continuous webbing. The five-point harness is attached to the seat in five points. It is used as a child-safety device and employed in race cars. Inertia reels are seatbelts that are used in modern vehicles. They are self-adjusting and draw back when not in use. They create an excellent hold of the car occupant because they can fit all body types.

Inertia reels are fitted with webclamps or pretensioners. Webclamps are responsible for fastening the webbing when a crash occurs and limits the length of web that rolls out. It is due to the unemployed webbing tightening on the seatbelt’s central drum. Pretensioners secure the belts in a tight position to stop the passenger from moving forward during a collision. They lessen the amount of force that can hit the occupant. Sensors in the body of the vehicle activate the pretensioners. Almost all pretensioners employ hot gases that move the piston to draw back the belt.

The use of seatbelts is mandatory in many countries including the United States. Seatbelts lessens your chances of getting serious injuries by almost 50%. It is pretty hard to imagine the type of injury that you could absorb during a high-speed collision. The difference between life and death can be measured by means of a seatbelt.
