A sealed beam headlight is another type of headlight. It is a large bulb that is also the lens. In the US, you can see that most cars are of the sealed beam type. But due to the many changes to automotive lighting during the past two decades, there has been a major move toward the use of halogen bulbs as the light source. This technology has proven to be superior to incandescent sealed beams in that the halogen produces a much whiter light and has added more life and efficiency to the bulbs, but there are still other cars that use the sealed beam type and Toyota cars are among them.

There are two kinds of sealed beam headlights, the standard light and the halogen. They come in a round or rectangular shape. The standard and halogen bulbs should not be mixed on any one system however you may upgrade a standard system to halogen by simply replacing the bulbs. There are two and four headlight systems. In a 2-light system, each sealed beam incorporates both the low and the high beams. While in a 4-light system, it has separate lights for low beam and high beam.
