The automobile lighting plays a vital role in how well we maximize our vehicles. The lights are responsible for the forward illumination which lights up the road ahead making the driver see where he is going without fear of bumping into anything. The lights are responsible for giving us the ability to travel and safely drive during the night and even on poor weather conditions when visibility is low or even nil.

Freedom of movement is given by the headlights which is the best thing possible because in an emergency the lights at night are very crucial. Maintaining your headlights in good condition is a preventive measure. Always make sure nothing is broken where dust and moisture can seep through which can start corrosion and the deterioration of the headlamp. The headlight, which is found at the front of your vehicle, is the main driving lights. If we base it from its construction there are two kinds of headlights, the composite type and the sealed beam. Both these types have the same components that make up the headlight assembly. Both have bulbs, reflectors, and a plastic or glass lens to cover it. But while the composite can be replaced part by part, the sealed beam cannot be. The sealed beam is the type of lamps with the reflector and filament encased in one single assembly over which a clear glass covers it which is permanently attached. In case of burnout the whole unit has to be replaced as they sealed in this unit. And every time the sealed beam is replaced, the aim of the beam must be checked and adjusted. The use of sealed beam was made mandatory in the United States in 1940.

The sealed beams wear and tear is actually longer simply because it is sealed and less moisture, dust and dirt are able to enter the assembly or even seep through. But then it is still possible for the bulb to burn out or for the clear glass to get broken by harm-causing road elements. In this case you would still need a replacement for the whole assembly.
