The MG engine sensors are precious and vital devices that maintain everything that goes inside the engine for its efficient working condition. The various sensors are then monitored by the engine control unit or the ECU, and it makes necessary adjustments and alteration if the signals sent are way out of the reference levels. Some of these sensors are well adept to the power–making operation in the engine, while some are for the engine safety. Of the many MG performance sensors, the MG oxygen sensor is the most important.

The MG oxygen sensor is part of the emissions control system in the MG vehicle, and it works to feed data to the ECU. This sensor monitors the amount of oxygen in the exhaust so the ECU will know how rich or lean the fuel mixture is. With this function, the sensor is able to help the engine work as efficiently as possible under all operating conditions and to regulate the emissions produced by the engine during combustion. Through the results that the oxygen sensor sends to the engine computer, the computer can then make necessary adjustments and solutions.

The perfect fuel and air mixture should be supplied to the cylinder head for its four-stroke power-producing process. This ratio is based on the amount of hydrogen and carbon in the fuel. Less air than the perfect ratio can cause fuel leftover that will cause air pollution through massive emissions of harmful exhausts. This phenomenon is called rich mixture. If there is more air than the perfect ratio, on the other hand, the result is excessive oxygen which tends to produce more nitrogen oxide pollutants and may cause poor performance. This is called a lean mixture.

The MG oxygen sensor takes the responsibility of sensing these two irregular mixtures through the chemical reactions that generate voltage. This voltage is sent back to the engine computer and is analyzed. After receiving and determining the ratio through the signal sent, the computer will now do necessary adjustments in the engine by altering the amount of the fuel being supplied to it. When the sensor fails, the engine typically uses up more fuel than what it needs and the vehicle performs poorly.

Never let this happen to your high end MG model. For ultra protection, make sure that it is maintained very well. When the oxygen sensor starts to bear irregularities, consult your mechanic. If the damage is beyond repair, you need to get it replaced with one from the wide selection available at Parts Train. Here, aftermarket MG oxygen sensors are of the same quality as the originals that you are well-acquainted of. Parts Train also offers a complete line of auto parts and accessories for all vehicle makes and models.
