Honda CR-V Oxygen Sensors |
The oxygen sensor is part of your Honda CR-V’s emission system which is typically located in between the catalytic converter and the exhaust manifold. This electronic device is directly connected to the ECU computer of your vehicle which in turn regulates the amount of fuel that is being delivered to the engine. The Honda CR-V oxygen sensor communicates with the computer throughout the vehicles operation to determine the volume and frequency of the fuel that is pumped into the cylinder.
The Honda CR-V oxygen sensor is typically mounted along the exhaust manifold. It has a two ends which one end is being used to detect the oxygen content on the exhaust gases and the other end is directly connected to the ECU computer. The detection is primarily done by identifying the oxygen level on the exhaust gases. If the sensor detects that the oxygen level is higher than the burnt fuel, it send the information using the sending end of the oxygen sensor. It typically relays the information in the form of voltages which flows through its wiring accessory.
The computer of your Honda CR-V then uses the gathered information from the oxygen sensor and uses it to perform necessary action to make the performance of your engine to be in optimum level. Too much or too little fuel on the cylinder can automatically change the reading of the oxygen sensor which will trigger the computer to readjust the volume of fuel being delivered to the engine. Since this electronic device is part of the exhausts system of your vehicle, it is susceptible to any damages brought about by those harmful by-products of the engine along its exhaust gases.
Your oxygen sensor can periodically fail which is cause by harmful elements such as nitrogen oxide. When the oxygen sensor begins to fail, the important feedback about the engines performance may be lost and will cause the engine to run roughly. As a result, the ECU computer that operates the electronic fuel injection system will have no idea how much fuel is being deliver to the engine. This will dramatically increase your fuel consumption and you may be able to fail on emission test.
Replacing your old and failing oxygen sensor is fairly easy and grabbing it yourself is somewhat a burden especially if you are a very busy person. However, just by browsing at Parts Train, you can obtain your new Honda CR-V oxygen sensor fast and easy. Our online catalog has the widest and most complete array of parts and accessories so you won’t find it hard to look on the parts that you need. |
