To save money on labor fees, you may be thinking about installing a replacement Isuzu oil pan by yourself.  If you’ve decided that you’re going to take on this project, know that the job must be done carefully.  The most common error people make when trying to install a new oil pan is excessively tightening the gaskets.  Over tightening the gaskets forces the oil pan and front cover to be pushed inward and around the bolt holes.  The gaskets will be crushed by this over tightening and the oil leak will be worse than before.  You can find your oil pan bolted to the bottom of your crankcase.  It is manufactured from a thin piece of steel and molded into a deep section to optimize its function.  The oil pan works like an oil reservoir and acts as a host to the oil pump and oil drain plug.  After you’ve turned your engine off, oil flows down the sides of the crankcase and collects in the oil pan.
