Your Eagle oil pan is a removable component located at the bottom of your crankcase.  It acts as an oil reservoir and is molded deep into a section and mounted underneath the crankcase.  The oil drain plug and oil pump both rely on the oil pan.  After you shut your engine off, oil spills down from the sides of the crankcase and collects in the oil pan.  Because the oil collected in the pan is constantly swished around, if you spring a leak the oil will most likely find its way out from here first.  Installing your own oil pan is a job that must be done carefully.  Excessive tightening of the bolts can crush the gaskets and push the oil pan and front cover inward around the bolts.  The result is a worse leak than the one you started out with.  Pay close attention to the gasket as you tighten the bolts to make sure that the gaskets aren’t squeezed out from under the oil pan.
