Triumph Knock Sensor

Who says that beauty and performance cannot be found in one? They can actually be, even among automobiles. This is where your British technology Triumph model is classified. Triumph is one of the makes that prides itself with elegance and craftsmanship that does not compromise performance in the league of major automakers. What you see in its exterior is equaled with what it has under the hood. Its engine system is backed by high end devices that help attain its peak performance. For one, you have the Triumph knock sensor.

The engine of your Triumph is accurately engineered to unleash the power that it is made of. The engine is capable of producing power through a four-stroke process: the intake stroke, the compression stroke, the power stroke, and the exhaust stroke. During the compression stroke, advanced timing between the air and fuel mixture can help the process of power stroke, but incorrect timing can also result to ‘knocking’ or ‘pinging.’ Through the help of the knock sensor installed in the engine, the engine computer can correct this.

Engine ‘knock’ gets its name from the sound that it creates in the cylinder. It is classified into two types: the mild knock and the severe knock. The mild knock is characterized by a ‘pinging’ sound like that of a ball bearing. If not corrected, this can cause reduction on power, wastage in fuel, and more emissions. The severe knock, on the other hand, sounds like a banging on the door and can cause greater trouble and destruction in the internal engine parts like the pistons, connecting rods, exhaust valves, head gaskets, and spark plugs.

The Triumph knock sensor answers these problems by detecting irregular vibrations in the cylinder through its two ceramic rods which are coiled in its magnetic field. This magnificent device sends signals to the vehicle computer for analysis. Minimal signals sent would mean mild knock, while greater signals characterize a severe knock. The computer would then retard the timing and correct the mixture of fuel and air in the cylinder until the signal reaches the standard level.

Your vehicle depends largely on the signal that your Triumph knock sensor will send, so you have to keep this sensor in its best working condition. However, like any other part in your auto, it may weaken due to the pressures and length of service that it already gave you. When this happens, you have Parts Train to provide you with the right aftermarket replacement for your Triumph knock sensor on top of the complete line of auto parts and accessories that we have for different autos. So visit Parts Train now and experience the ease of online auto parts shopping.
