The Chevrolet headlight case is a panel, usually made of metal in the original Chevrolet headlight assembly or fiberglass in aftermarket units, that is used to attach the headlight to the vehicle's header panel. The primary function of the headlight case is that of holding the headlight bulb in its proper place. Thus, if the headlight case gets damaged, the bulb may simply drop or shake in place, causing the headlight's beam to lose its focus in the latter case.
A headlight with an improperly focused beam certainly wouldn't help a driver when driving at night or during low visibility conditions. Thus, it is very important to replace the headlight case in case it is already broken or heavily damaged. There are a lot of replacement and aftermarket Chevrolet headlight cases available in the market today, so finding one shouldn't really be difficult. Be extra careful, however, each time you buy one because some aftermarket cases simply won’t fit on your particular Chevrolet.
