Performance will often lead you thinking of horsepower and acceleration. However, performance is actually not just what you were led to think of it. Performance also includes control of your vehicle. And control is not only about how the suspension system works, but how the entire systems inside your Subaru really function to achieve the maximum performance that you have always enjoyed. Before the engine can ever create power for your auto, it has a magnificent device called the Subaru harmonic balancer that helps it attain its peak performance without the disturbances.

Disturbances in the engine include ‘resonance’ or torsional vibrations. Resonance is the technical term for the phenomenon that occurs when the power and the vibration that results from power-generation are in synch with the crankshaft of the engine. The crankshaft is the internal engine part that allows its efficient cyclic function. Resonance can cause stress at the crankshaft that will disable it. In return, the engine’s efficient functioning will be badly affected or, at the worst, the engine will totally fail.

A harmonic balancer is the same as the crank pulley damper, torsional damper, or vibration damper that answers the problem of the crankshaft. This damper is composed of two elements, the mass and the energy-dissipating elements. The mass element resists the acceleration of the vibration while the energy-dissipating element consists of a rubber, a clutch, and fluid, and absorbs the vibration. These are attached at the front part of the engine’s crankshaft and work to prevent further damages to it caused by resonance.

High-end vehicles like your Subaru are equipped with a harmonic balancer for safety concerns regarding the engine and the entire vehicle as a whole. This harmonic balancer however, needs regular maintenance from you. For better results, since this maintenance will include opening your engine bay and more technical and dirty works, a trip to your reliable mechanic will be best. Although the Subaru harmonic balancer is made to last your vehicle, replacement for dissatisfying or worn-out ones are also available.

Aftermarket replacements for your Subaru harmonic balancer are of wide array at Parts Train, with the same quality and durability as your originals. You will be surprised to find that they may even be better than your stock because of the modern techniques and technology used in the construction of these aftermarket products. Aside from these, Parts Train also offers a complete line of auto parts and accessories for all makes and models of vehicles.
