Rolls Royce is synonymous to high quality in the auto world because of its beauty and its safe and reliable performance. Your Rolls Royce vehicle prides itself of the safety devices which are installed in and out of it. Rolls Royce makers cannot compromise safety in exchange of performance. Rather, they pack them in one package, equipping their models with parts that protect and perform. One of the components in your vehicle is the Rolls Royce harmonic balancer. It is attached to the front part of the crankshaft to prevent torsional vibration during the engine’s four-stroke power production process.

The engine crankshaft is the part that translates the reciprocating linear piston motion into rotation. This internal engine part is often connected to a flywheel that reduces the pulsation characteristic of the four-stroke cycle power creation. At its opposite end, the crankshaft employs a torsional or vibrational damper to reduce the torsion vibration that is caused by the cylinders.

When the cylinders fire, the power impact is transmitted to the front of the crankshaft, making it turn ahead of its rear. This makes a twisting motion between the front and the rear crank such that when the power is removed, it unwinds and creates torsional vibration, then snaps back to its original direction. At certain engine speeds, the transfer of power and the vibration occurs at the same time, which is termed as the ‘resonance’ or the phenomenon of torque and vibration synch. Such causes stress beyond what the crankshaft can stand and often results to its failure.

This problem is what the torsional or vibrational dampers prevent. The Rolls Royce harmonic balancer is the damper that you have in your engine crankshaft. It consists of two elements, the mass element that resist the acceleration of the vibration and the energy dissipating element that absorbs the vibration. When the cylinder fires and power is transmitted to the crankshaft, instead of the front crank twisting ahead of the rear, it is the rubber or the discs connecting the two parts of the damper which is twisted, keeping the crank on a calmer operation.

Because of its important function, you are to keep your auto’s harmonic balancer in good shape and replace it immediately when any damage occurs. Parts Train has the selection of products from which you can choose for your aftermarket replacement Rolls Royce harmonic balancer. Above this, Parts Train also offers the best choices of parts and accessories for various vehicle makes and models.
