Honda Radiator Fan Motor

Your Honda vehicle’s cooling system may employ either of the two types of cooling fan for the cooling system efficiency. Traditional cars usually feature belt-driven mechanical fans which rely on the engine to turn them. This type of cooling fan is still used today on several cars and light trucks. However, they now come with a temperature-sensitive fan clutch that permits the fan to disengage or engage depending on the fan’s operating conditions.

It was around 1980 when another type of cooling fan – the electrical cooling fan – emerged. It evolved due to the sideways-installed transmissions and engines and apparently because there is a need to reduce weight while increasing the fuel economy. For better control of the cooling system, some vehicles may employ multiple electric cooling fans.

The cooling fan is the mechanism that circulates air through the radiator so that it can release heat into the surrounding air. But the cooling fan will not be able to do this without the fan motor. It is a fan component that does a tough job – to provide enough power that will enable the fan to run whenever it is needed. Because of its task, your Honda fan motor needs to be durable enough and should be tuned properly. It isn’t easy to start a fan and starting it with reduced power doubles the difficulty. This can surely cause the fan motor to wear out and fail too soon.

When this happens to your Honda fan motor, you don’t have a choice but to look for a replacement unit. But before settling for a replacement Honda fan motor there are some factors that you need to consider in order to find the right replacement. First, your replacement Honda fan motor needs to be energy efficient as possible. Second, find out the approximate motor lifespan and put that into consideration in choosing a replacement unit.
