Honda Accord Fan Clutch |
The Honda Accord is produced to unify every man’s desire for a car: performance, elegance, comfort, and excitement. With innovative and practical features donned around it, there is no doubt why it became the best-selling car for 15 years running. This mid-size sedan comes with a VTEC engine generating enough horsepower and torque to carry you anywhere you like. Honda engineers use the latest design and manufacturing technologies to ensure that the Accord carries excellent standards to meet quality requirement. That is why every part of the Honda Accord is scrutinized in details to guarantee high quality. Even the most common parts are engineered in precision in order to maximize the cars performance potentials. A fine example is the radiator fan clutch.
Well, not all car owners know what a fan clutch does or its significance to the operation. When we hear about an auto clutch, the first thing that comes to our minds is the one used in auto transmission. Actually, there is another clutch existing in the car - the radiator fan clutch. This device works just like the transmission clutch only that it functions for the control of the fan speed and not the road speed. This auto component is designed by controlling the fan speed maintaining it to run at proper rate. Aside from that, it also works to stop the fan drive when the fan is no longer needed particularly when the car is driving fast and the accumulation of air is enough to cool down the radiator.
As the temperature gets higher especially when the vehicle is idle, the clutch signals a bimetal spring to expand where silicone oil comes out to the fluid coupling. When the car starts to take the road; the bimetal coil spring contracts rather that expands. In this case, the silicone oil sets off from the fluid coupling thus making the fan’s operation slow. As a result a reduction from fuel consumption, it even produces less noise, and most importantly, saves engine power. There are some clutches that employ flat bimetal strip instead of coil spring. This bimetal strip is inclined to bow in and out when the temperature rises and drops; thus allowing oil from going out and in from the fluid coupling.
With the vital role a fan clutch has for the Honda Accord, it is with no doubt that its condition must always be inspected. If it gets damage in any ways, it is a must to replace it immediately. Here at Parts Train, you are provided with different Honda Accord fan clutches.
