Chevy Camaro Fan Clutch

The Chevrolet Camaro fan clutch is a device controlled by the thermostat which is primarily used as a vital component of the engine cooling system. When your vehicle is parked and the engine is cold and idle, the fan clutch disengages the cooling fan. When your vehicle is in motion and the engine is at work, but the normal engine temperature is maintained, the fan clutch disengages the radiator cooling fan. But once the thermostat has noted a significant rise in the engine temperature, the fan clutch engages the radiator cooling fan which is driven by mechanical force to help in lowering the engine temperature.

The radiator cooling fan is actually an assembly in which the Chevrolet Camaro fan clutch belongs to. It is positioned right in front of the water pump and powered by the belt and pulley attached to the crankshaft of the engine.
