As the heart of the vehicle, the engine system pumps air and fuel into the combustion chamber and burns it before it is ignited. Ignition causes the crankshaft to rotate, converting the straight line motion into rotary motion. Power is produced through the four strokes performed by the pistons in a cylinder. As the pistons move down the cylinder, the air and fuel mixture is drawn into the combustion chamber. Then the pistons move upwards again, compressing the air-fuel mixture, gradually decreasing its volume. Ignition takes place, sending back the pistons downwards. This stroke moves the crankshaft that sends power to the wheels through the drivetrain.
