If your radiator hose is leaking or has cracks in it, it should be replaced immediately to avoid the build up of heat inside the engine. As a part of the radiator, the radiator hose should be in good condition to maintain the proper operation of the various cooling system components. On top of that, damaged hose can lead to serious problems like engine overheating. But that shouldn’t make you worry much for the market offers wide variation of radiator hoses, including those that are made specifically for your MG. If you are mechanically inclined, installing your new MG radiator hose can be done easily, but if not, it is best to let a mechanic do the task to avoid defects.
The cooling system guarantees that your engine is operating at normal temperature level to offer better engine performance. In particular, a liquid substance called the coolant travels from the radiator to the different parts of the engine such as the blocks and walls to collect unnecessary amount of thermal energy. Basically, the radiator hose allows the movement of the liquid substance between the two systems to enable heat absorption and dissipation. There are two radiator hoses that facilitate the coolant travel. The first one runs from the radiator to the engine system, the entry point of the coolant to the powerhouse. The other one serves as the passage of the coolant from the engine to the radiator.
All types of vehicles have a radiator hose installed, differing in sizes depending on the configurations of the engine and its cooling system. There are different types of hoses namely: the common hose, the molded hose or shaped hose, and the accordion-type hose. The common hose is made of rubber with fabric strengthening which may not bend a lot before it collapses. The molded hose will not bend compared to the common hose since all the bends necessary is already structured into the component. The accordion type of hose on the other hand, is the same as the molded hose except that they absorb several of the vibration on the engine and radiator as well. Another is the smaller type known as heater hose and can be found connected to the heater core. All these radiator hoses are of spiral wire construction which can also be reshaped to prevent bending and remolding.
The natural wear and tear may cause leaks to appear from the radiator hose. If the leak is coming from the clamp holding, is can simply be tightened to prevent the spill. It should also be taken note that when the engine is hot, the radiator cap and radiator hose clamp must never be opened or loosened since the coolant could burst out and burn you. Maintenance of the radiator hose is fairly easy, and finding top-notch MG radiator hose is just simple. Parts Train alone offers wide line of auto parts which includes MG radiator hose.
