Buick Cooling Fan |
Owning a Buick gives you great pride and pleasure. It offers superb power and performance every time you are out on the street. Buick is generally a General Motor’s marque. Founded by David Dunbar Buick in 1903, Buick vehicles are the first in using overhead valve engine. Buick automobiles share the luxury of the Cadillac and the performance of the Oldsmobile. The whole line of Buick vehicles were designed for those car enthusiasts who wants the elegance and luxury of the Cadillac but cannot well afford it. With Buick’s dedication to quality, competence and reliability, it has been one of the successful automotive companies in the industry today.
But of course owning a Buick necessitates that you properly take care of its components. From the engine down to the spark plug wires, it is essential that you regularly check them for ensured quality performance. Among these important component is the cooling fan. As part of the cooling system, cooling fans play a vital role in keeping the engine at the right temperature to keep it from over heating. In essence, a cooling fan is a low pressure air pump that uses motor power to deliver a constant flow of air at a given pressure.
There are two types of cooling fan: the mechanical cooling fans and the electric cooling fans. Old vehicles use the belt driven mechanical cooling fans that utilizes the engine in order for the fan to turn. Today, mechanical fans are still being used in some vehicles and light trucks. Electric cooling fans, on the other hand, are used in most vehicles these days in order to decrease vehicle weight and increase fuel economy. For better cooling effect, many cars used several electric cooling fans. With the advancement in technology today, electric cooling fans are now controlled by the same computer that controls the engine.
By and large, the purpose of the cooling fan is to circulate air in the radiator so that engine heat is efficiently released into the surrounding air. Sooner or later though, the cooling fan will start to wear out. A worn out cooling fan will cause overheating, fuel wastage and poor air conditioning. When this happens, it is essential that you check the cooling fan and make the necessary replacement as soon as possible. If you see any bad fuses, replace them right away and ensure that the relay is installed properly in its socket.
