Peugeot Clutch |
For most driving professionals and enthusiasts, manual transmission vehicles are still the most fuel efficient in the auto world. And this is true; even tests conducted by the authorities have shown the same result. And the indispensable part that must go with the efficient manual transmission in your Peugeot vehicle is the Peugeot clutch.
Clutch is among the vital components of manual transmission vehicles. This under-the-hood part is located between the transmission and the engine. It is an assembly that is composed of a fly wheel, a clutch plate, a pressure plate, a set of studs, a diaphragm spring, a throw out bearing, clutch housing, a release fork, and bell housing. They are all interconnected through the clutch plate’s bar and inserted in the engine, with the flywheel in one end nearest to it and the bell housing on the other end nearest to the manual transmission. This entire assembly provides an efficient way for connecting and disconnecting the engine and transmission.
Peugeot is a French car brand and the automobile division of the PSA Peugeot Citroen since the end of the 19th century, based in Paris and founded by Armand Peugeot. Its entry to the auto world business was rather a very significant one, through bicycles, which was followed by steam-powered cars. However, due to their impracticality and bulkiness, Peugeot started developing internal combusting vehicles after a viability meeting with the founder of another automaker, Gottlieb Daimler. Although considered as one of the oldest surviving automakers, Peugeot still boasts of its performance parts, among which is the Peugeot clutch.
The Peugeot clutch is connected to the clutch pedal that is located at the leftmost leg of the driver. Because of its vital role in the disconnection and connection of the engine and transmission, it is solely separated from the other two pedals, the acceleration and the brakes. When the pedal receives pressure, a cable of hydraulic piston pushes in the release fork, which presses the throw out bearing against the middle of the diaphragm spring that, in turn, pulls the pressure plate away from the clutch disc. This motion disengages the clutch from the engine, allowing the shifting of gears, and engages the clutch to the engine once again.
The performance of your clutch should always be maintained through regular visits to your reliable handyman.
