Feel the power over the road as you drive your Infiniti car. Touch the ground as you change gears and have a swift running over any road conditions. Experience the powerful performance of your Infiniti and feel the difference that a manual transmission can make. If you have not driven yet a vehicle with manual transmission, better try now.

A vehicle with manual transmission changes gears by means of a hand-operated gearshift and a foot-operated clutch. Oftentimes, a manual transmission’s functionality is defined by the efficiency of its clutch. An Infiniti clutch is the device that allows the vehicle to change gears by disconnecting the engine from the transmission and then brings back the contact between the engine and the transmission to turn together at a new speed. In simplest form, when the clutch is engaged the power from the engine is transferred to the transmission and drive the wheels. When the clutch is disengaged, it ceases the transfer of power and lets the engine continue turning without force to drive the wheels.

The clutch is operated through mechanical or hydraulic linkage. The cable-type clutch linkage is simple and is commonly used in newer cars while the hydraulic clutch linkage is commonly found in mid and rear-engine vehicles. Basically, clutch designs are based on one or more friction discs which are pressed together with a flywheel using springs. The pressure form the spring is released when you depress the clutch pedal causing the friction plates to be released and allowed to rotate freely.

New clutch design which is also used by your Infiniti is self-adjusting and gives signs that will tell you when it needs adjustments. But the frequent usage of your Infiniti clutch may contribute to its early wearing. If you start to experience clutch related problems such as the clutch “grinds” when shifting, the transmission does not shift gears though the clutch pedal moves easily, and the clutch starts to slip then better drive you Infiniti to your mechanic. These signs are telling you that clutch replacement has to be done.

If your mechanic recommends replacing your Infiniti clutch, then don’t waste time and replace your clutch immediately to restore the powerful performance of your car.
