It is more fun to drive your Geo if you have the complete control over its gears. You will definitely feel the rushing speed of your tires that are completely in touch with the ground. Getting this power to the ground means that your Geo has an efficient manual transmission. Driving enthusiast would agree that there is a big difference driving with manual transmission than with automatic transmission cars.

The reliable Geo manual transmission is nothing without an equally reliable Geo clutch. A Geo clutch is the mechanism for transmitting rotation which can be engaged and disengaged. Engaging the clutch allows the power from the engine to be transferred to the transmission and drive the wheels. Disengaging the clutch causes the power transfer to stop and allows the engine to continue turning without force to the drive wheels. In simplest form, the clutch is the subcomponent of the car’s transmission system that allows the power from the engine to be applied gradually when a vehicle is starting out and interrupts the engine power to avoid gear crunching when shifting.

Most of the vehicles’ clutch design is based on one or more friction discs which are pressed together or against a flywheel using springs. The friction material of the clutch uses asbestos but in some car applications ceramic clutches are used. When the clutch pedal is released, the spring pressure is released causing the diaphragm pf the pressure plate to be pushed or pulled. The pushing or pulling of the pressure plate causes the friction plate to be released and allow it to rotate freely.

Although you are confident that your Geo ride is equipped with a very dependable manual transmission, it is still better to know when to suspect a defective Geo clutch. The most common problem with clutches is the wearing out of the friction material on a clutch disc. The Geo clutch will start to slip and will not transmit power from the engine to the wheels if the friction material is worn out. You may also start to hear annoying sound as you shift the gears or the Geo clutch pedal resist your touch.

However, to diagnose properly whatever symptoms your Geo may have, always consult a certified mechanic. If your mechanic recommends for a Geo clutch replacement Parts Train is the right place to go.
