If you think that an automobile is all about engine then take a second thought. Although it is true that the engine is considered as the heart of an automobile, still, you cannot absolutely say that an automobile is all about engine. Why? Because if the power generated by the engine is not transmitted to the ground, everything would be totally futile or inutile. No matter how powerful the engine may be, if the vehicle cannot be driven then what’s the use? Here is the idea behind that. In order to deliver the power generated by an engine into the road surface, your vehicle needs to have a drivetrain. And if so, it can be aptly called now as an automobile as it can already by driven or be used to transport people or cargoes from one place to another with much convenience and ease.
But what is a drivetrain? A drivetrain is that group of components that is taken together to, as we have said, deliver or transmit the power created by the engine into the ground or road. It is comprised of the following: transmission, driveshaft, differential or transaxle, axles, wheels, tires and torque converter or clutch. Each of these components plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running performance of an automobile. Of these components, the clutch like the Dodge clutch is the one that connects the engine to a manual transmission and is responsible for engaging the transmission gears. Moreover, the clutch allows the transmission to be disengaged from the engine, so the automobile can be held in place with the engine still running.
A clutch is a friction mechanism that is usually made up of a disc and pressure plate assembly. It is used in devices having tow rotating shafts by which one of the shafts is basically driven by a motor or pulley. In your Dodge automobile, the clutch allows the smooth connection of the spinning engine into the non-spinning transmission by directing the slippage between the two. It works when the driver steps on the clutch pedal. The linkage from the pedal to the clutch can either be mechanical or hydraulic piston that pushes on the release fork, and forces the throw out bearing against the center of the diaphragm spring. Then a series of pins near the outside of the spring causes the spring to haul the pressure plate away from the clutch disc, thus, releases the clutch from the spinning engine.
Whether your automobile uses an automatic transmission (yes, it too have clutches) or manual transmission, you need to immediately replace a busted clutch. Here at Parts Train, we offer great deals of clutch including Dodge clutch products for all your replacement needs. Check our comprehensive catalogue now!
