Triumph CV Joint

Wondering where that loud clicking sound is coming from everytime your Triumph makes turns round the corners. That might be originating from your Triumph constant velocity joint or the CV joint. When you hear such sounds, you must check this vital part or let your reliable mechanic inspect it for even better results. This loud clicking sound is the indication that you have an erratic Triumph CV joint in your vehicle and you need to replace it immediately for a continued comfortable driving.

You will find a CV joint at the ends of the metal bar that you can see under your vehicle if you try to bend and peek at the inner area of your auto wheels. This is actually the outer CV joint of your auto. It is protected by a CV boot which is flexible enough with the movements of the joint according to the steering direction. At the internal end of this outer joint is another CV joint which is the inner joint. It works to transfer torque at a constant speed while allowing the up and down motion of your auto suspension.

Basically, the CV joints are classified into two: the tripod type CV joints and the ball type CV joints. Both are present in every single vehicle. The ball type is commonly used in the outer joints while the tripod type is employed in the inner joints. These pairs are both attached to each end of the drive shaft with the inner making a connection to the transmission and the outer to the wheels. The two pairs make up the entire CV joints of the automobiles.

All CV joints are very durable that they need no maintenance at all other than reliable CV boots. When the CV boot is damaged, the CV joint will be exposed and risked. You can prevent this by immediately replacing the boot when torn and repacking the grease that lubricates the CV joints. Continuous driving with erratic or damaged CV boots can greatly imperil your vehicle because this will pose threats of damage to the joints and even to the entire drive shaft. So the next time you hear a clicking sound when you turn, inspect your Triumph CV boots and CV joints.
