Hummer CV joint is the component directly responsible for transferring engine output from the transmission line to the front wheels of the automobile. Since engine output is continually varying, a stable system of transmitting engine output is necessary. The variations in engine output are brought about by the unpredictable nature of combustion. Combustion is a chemical process that involves heat and pressure. Heat and pressure are hard to control. These two parameters may rise or fall, depending on the efficiency of combustion. Combustion efficiency, on the other hand, is affected by other factors, both internal and external factors. CV or constant velocity joints such as the Hummer CV joint are one of the components that maintain stable engine output.

A Hummer CV joint connects the drive shaft to the front wheel. Constant velocity shafts, as the name suggests, maintain constant velocity for the front wheels. They are part of the transmission system of the automobile. Differential gears, bearings, drive shafts and lubricants comprise the transmission system of the automobile. The CV joint is just one of the many components of the transmission system. Torque, speed and power from the engine are indirectly transferred to the wheels by the transmission system. The transmission system allows the adjustment of the transmitted output even without directly interfering with the actual output or function of the engine.

CV joints are also called homokinetic joints. Their main function is to allow a rotating shaft to transmit power even the angle of transmission is varying. CV joints maintain constant rotational speed, without compromising friction or responsiveness. CV joints are mainly used in cars utilizing front-wheel drives and in cars utilizing four-wheel drives. Nonetheless, there are some exceptions. Rear wheel drive cars that utilize independent rear suspension also utilize CV joints for the rear axle half-shafts. The CV joints on these cars facilitate the transmission of engine output to the wheels even though their rear axles are constantly changing angles in reference to the wheels to compensate for the unevenness on the road.

Since the front wheels are used for steering, they are constantly varying in angles. The variations in angle need to be compensated to maintain stability. It is the primary role of the CV joints to compensate for the angle variations of the front wheels. The CV joints allow the front wheel drive shaft to transmit engine output at constant rate. This allows stability of the front wheels. Traction is maintained because of the CV joints. Parts Train offers the widest catalog of CV joints for different type of vehicles.
