Mercury Brake Rotors |
If you are the kind of driver who feels some kind of excitement, thrill and pleasure every time the speedometer reads beyond 100 kilometers an hour, then you must also be the kind the of driver who makes sure that your vehicle’s braking system stays in tiptop condition. Going for high speed acceleration should be equally coupled with highly reliable and efficient brakes to prevent vehicular mishaps. Brakes are used to regulate, either to slow down or completely halt the motion a vehicle by converting the vehicle’s kinetic energy into heat. It is of two kinds – the drum braking system which makes use of the brake drum and brake shoes or brake pads as its main components, and the disc braking system which makes use of the brake caliper, brake pads and brake rotors as its components.
Disc brakes start to operate whenever the driver applies pressure to the brake pedal. Such pressure is being shifted to the master cylinder which holds a piston to force a hydraulic brake line system to function into the wheels. As soon as the brake fluid pressure reaches the wheels, the brakes now will cause the pistons to activate the caliper. The brake caliper will then clamp the brake pads against the disc-like plate component called brake rotors to produce friction. Such friction will now be used to convert the vehicle’s forward motion into heat energy, causing the vehicle to slow down or to stop, and prevent it from moving again.
Brake rotors like the Mercury brake rotors are the parallel-faced circular plates that have a series of vents to prevent the warping or cracking of the rotor. The vents serve as the passage way of outside air in entering the brakes to cool down the heated rotors during its operation. Since the brake pads come in contact with the rotors every time the driver uses the brakes, the rotors gradually fades, wears out and deteriorates as time goes by. Brake rotors are usually machined to remove the “glazed” surface that was formed during the continuous use and pulsations that is experienced by a warped brake rotor. Nevertheless, having the rotors machined over and over again can make the brakes unreliable and inefficient.
As such, you are left with no other choice but to have it replaced. For your brake rotor replacement needs, you can starts browsing our catalogue.
