The disc brakes offered greater stopping ability than the drum brakes and is highly resistive to “brake fade”. It is usually mounted in the front wheels of the vehicles since it is where most of the braking effort is contained. Disc brakes are now common in most passenger vehicles although its first application was on the sports cars.

The edge of the disc brake over the drum brake is the components that make it up. These components performs individual task but are chained to each other to contribute to the over all performance of the disc brake. One of the important components of the disc brake is the brake rotor. Hyundai is definitely installed with Hyundai brake rotor. The Hyundai brake rotor is made of iron with machined smooth surfaces to have an even contact with the brake pads. It is sandwiched between the brake pads and turns with the wheel. When the brake pedal is depressed, the brake fluid causes the brake caliper to push the brake pads towards each other squeezing the Hyundai brake rotor. This mechanism results to the stopping or slowing down of your Hyundai vehicle.

The frequent squeezing done to the Hyundai brake rotors may eventually affect the surface of the brake rotor. In the long run, the brake rotor may develop an uneven surface which is no longer effective to have a smooth contact with the brake pads. The uneven surface that the Hyundai brake rotor may have can be refined through the so-called “truing process”. In this process, the surface of the brake rotor is shaved off to make it smooth again but this is done to some extent only.
