Dodge Brake Rotors

Safety would always be the foremost concern of most car owners especially drivers. Brake rotors are used only by vehicles having disc braking system. A brake rotor is the component to which the brake pads are being pressed against with through the calipers to convert the generated friction into heat for halting or slowing down of the vehicle’s motion. Brake rotors have a series of vents where the outside air enters and consequently cools down the rotors after it heats up every time the driver steps on the brake pedal.

Due to constant use, brake pads wear out and needs to be replaced immediately to ensure efficient and reliable braking system. And when the brake pads area replaced, the brake rotors are also “turned” or technically called machined, to take away “glazed” surface that is formed due to extended use. Such machining or turning process also “trues” the disc which gets rid of the pulsations that is experienced by a warped brake rotor. A warped brake rotor gives a slight dragging feel whenever the brakes are applied. Warping and cracking are most common brake rotor problems encountered by car owners.

A brake rotor may only be turned or machined for several times. In excess of that, the brake rotors may become too thin to be incapable of being resurfaced once more. Instead, very thin brake rotors must be replaced as soon as possible to eliminate the tugging feel and to ensure reliability and efficiency of your car’s braking system.
