The Eagle car brand was originally a product of AMC or American Motors Corporation up until 1987 when Chrysler bought them out. Prior to the buyout, the Eagle vehicles were put to the market together with the manufactured jeep products of the AMC. Some of the models that were sold under Eagle name were Vista, Summit, Premier and Medallion. Even after it was bought out by the Chrysler Corporation, the Eagle continued to use its own logo. Each of these Eagle models were built-in with different engines and interior features to make each distinct from the other. But for the basics, they share almost similar features.
One of important parts possessed by these Eagle cars is the braking system and an essential component of this system is the brake disc. This part is responsible for slowing down or stopping the wheel’s motion. This device is usually connected to the car’s wheel or axle. There is a lining or brake pad mounted on the brake caliper which is accountable for creating friction for both the brake discs. The friction created makes the vehicle slow down and eventually come to a stop.
The automobile brake discs used today have come a long way from the very first designs produced in 1902 by Frederick William Lanchester in his factory in Birmingham. As can be observed, the first disc brakes were not that great and a lot of deficiencies were seen. It was in 1949 when the modern-style brake discs happened started to be used. But still, the problem about design problems continued. Because of this, car companies continued to strive in order to come up with better performing brakes, thus Chrysler was able to develop brake discs that were enfolded in dual-expanding, full-circle pressure plates. From the 1950’s onwards, much better performing brake discs came out with more advanced implements.
For the Eagle vehicles, most of the brake discs are located inside the wheels themselves. This is done so because the friction created is somewhat applied more directly to the axle or wheel, thus slowing down or stopping is more straightforward. The discs come in a variety of designs and some of the typical designs we will see as supplied to the market are the solid cast iron, ventilated disc and the disc with hollowed design and fins. Each of these is effective components of the car. So if you need to replace your Eagle brake discs, you can come to Parts Train. We have high quality products at very affordable prices.
