When you begin to experience problems with your Volkswagen brakes, it’s time to replace them.  The two easiest ways to check your vehicle for brake wear are to look and listen.  Start by looking between the spokes of your wheels at your brake pads.  The pad should be at least ¼ of an inch wide.  If the pad is thinner than ¼ of an inch, you should have the pads replaced.  A high-pitched squealing sound every time you step on your brakes is also an indication that your brake pads need replacing.  You may notice that your brake pedal is sinking towards the floor and that your brakes just aren’t responding like they used to.  This type of problem may be due to a leak in your braking system.  This leak will either be an air leak, which would be from your brake hose, or a brake fluid leak.  These warning signs should never be ignored.
