As soon as you suspect that you’re having problems with your Ford brakes, have a professional look at them. Your vehicle will send you many warning signs when the braking system is not working as well as it should. Two ways that you can check your brakes for wear are looking and listening. Inspect your brake pads by looking at them between the spokes of your wheels. If, upon inspection, you see that your brake pads are less than ¼ inch wide, it’s time to replace them. Even if you haven’t looked at your brake pads, you can tell that they’re fading if you hear a high-pitched squeal when you apply your brakes. This grinding, growling noise is actually the brake disc and brake caliper rubbing together. That means, you’ve waited to long to replace your brake pads and now you will probably have to replace your rotors.
