There are four main components of a disc brake and they are brake pads, caliper, rotor and caliper support. Each of these components has their own functions in the disc brake system and they must at all times be in good working condition.
On the other hand, drum brake is installed on the vehicle’s rear wheels. Though drum brake is not as great as the disc brake, it is still being used since it cost lesser than disc brake. One good reason for using drum brake is that installing parking brakes is simpler with it than with disc brake. A drum brake is mainly consists of components such as backing plate, brake shoes, brake drum, return springs and wheel cylinder.
Together with the self-adjusting system, parking brakes, ABS and power brake booster, the main braking component of your Audi brakes should always function properly. This way, brake failures which could eventually lead to accidents could be avoided. It is advisable that you check your entire Audi brakes system for any signs of damage so you can correct it as early as possible or replace any components that need replacements.
