Sterling Axle Assembly

The placement of your Sterling axle assembly varies depending on what wheel-drive type of Sterling vehicle you owned, if it is a front-wheel-drive, a rear-wheel-drive, or a four-wheel-drive type of vehicle. On a front-wheel-drive Sterling vehicle, its axle assembly is located on the center of its two front wheels. A front-wheel-drive Sterling vehicle do not have conventional transmissions, drive axles or driveshafts on its axle assembly. As a substitute, the power is transmitted from the engine to a transaxle, or combination of transmission and drive axle, in one unit. If your Sterling vehicle is a rear-wheel-drive type, its axle assembly is placed right also at the center of its two rear wheels. A rear-wheel-drive Sterling vehicle uses a front mounted engine and transmission assemblies with a driveshaft connecting your transmission and your rear drive axle.

A Sterling rear axle assembly is typically a solid or live axle, although some import and/or performance models have used a rigidly mounted center differential with halfshafts linking the wheels to your differential. As for the four-wheel-drive Sterling vehicle, both of its front and rear wheels has a corresponding Sterling axle assembly that is used in order to transmit power from the engine to your front and rear drive axles at the same time.

Every Sterling axle assembly is made up of several parts, like the other axle assembly that is usually found o common cars. Sterling axle assembly is consisting also of CV joints and boots, and the axle shafts. These parts work in coordination in order to transmit the torque to the wheels from the transmission. Your acceleration and turning process must be smooth and flawless. If there is a lot of tremor or harsh jerking as you accelerate, and there is a grinding noise as you make a sharp corner, these could be an indication of wear or damage on your Sterling axle assembly.

In reality, changing or replacing your whole Sterling axle assembly can cost you more money. An intensive care and occasional maintenance is also essential for your Sterling axle assembly. But if the damage is totally ruined your axle assembly, it would be better if you replace it with a new set of sterling axle assembly. The most obvious reason why it is more recommendable to change your whole axle assembly than just replacing some of its other part is safety. It is more safe if you replace your original but worn out Sterling axle assembly as whole, because you are rest assured that your axle assembly including its parts are new and in good working condition.
