Merkur Air Filter

From the years 1985 to 1989, the Merkur vehicle brand was marketed in the United States and Canada by the Ford Motor Company. The Merkur name was derived from the German word Mercury since Merkur vehicles were German-built Fords that were imported to the US and Canada. It was the only division of the Ford Motor Company to be phased out due to strict requirements of vehicles used in America and was expensive compared to American manufactured vehicles. Merkur vehicles were originally manufactured in Cologne, West Germany making it a European car which was sold in the American market.

There were only two vehicle models which were sold under the Merkur brand and neither of them was successful in the American market. This is because of the exchange rate fluctuations and also because of its odd design and name. And neither of the models had no required passive restraint system or even air bags because it was not a requirement for European vehicle models. Other than that, the Merkur vehicles had the same basic auto parts and accessories. It had the same systems usually found on other vehicle models.

One of the most important components of the Merkur vehicles is the Merkur fuel filter. The Merkur fuel filter, like all fuel filters which can be found on internal combustion engine vehicles, is a filter employed in the fuel line that is responsible for screening out dirt, rust and other particles from the fuel. It plays an important role in modern, tight tolerance engine fuel systems of today. It is needed because the fuel may contain different kinds of contaminants like dirt and paint chips that have fallen into the tank while filling, or rust which was caused by the moisture in the steel tank. These particles can cause the fuel pump and fuel injectors to fail or deteriorate rapidly. The fuel filters also aid in improving the engine performance as it restrains the contaminants in the fuel allowing it to burn efficiently.

The Merkur fuel filter in the Merkur vehicle, as with the fuel filters on other vehicles, should be replaced at regular service intervals. The fuel filter can be easily replaced by just disconnecting the old filter from the fuel line and exchanging it with the new one. Though some fuel filters that are specially designed can be just cleaned and can be reused a lot of times. If the fuel filter is not changed regularly, it will be clogged with the particles from the unfiltered fuel and cause the fuel flow to be blocked which will then affect the entire engine performance. You can easily find Merkur fuel filters here at Parts Train.
