The amenities that make our lives and our homes comfortable are now incorporated in our vehicles. Take for example the air conditioning system which makes everyday feel better by making our surroundings a little bit cooler than normal or warmer, whatever is needed at the moment. The air-conditioning system has several components that work closely together in order that they can do the cooling function. These components are the condenser, evaporator, expansion valve, receiver-drier, refrigerant and of course, the compressor.

The Land Rover Range Rover AC Compressor is considered the heart of the air conditioning system. The AC compressor is designed to ensure that there is continuous flow of the refrigerant gases. It is a belt driven pump where the belt is activated and deactivated to the AC compressor by the AC compressor clutch which is an electromagnetic clutch. The belt used is what you call the AC compressor pulley and is attached to the vehicle's engine. The fluid which is capable of absorbing all the heat build-up inside the interior of your vehicle is the refrigerant.

The air conditioning system has a low pressure side and the high pressure side. The low pressure side, also known as the intake side, inlet side or the suction side, and is composed of the evaporator and the receiver-drier or accumulator. It takes in the low pressure refrigerant gas and it is compressed by the compressor and converts it into a high temperature and high pressure gas. Once compressed, the hot refrigerant passes through the high pressure side, also known as the discharge side, towards the condenser where it can transfer the heat that it has absorbed. Once the refrigerant has been cooled in the condenser it is then sent back to the evaporator and thus completing the cycle. Although these components are working separately, each with their own tasks and functions, they are working simultaneously and harmoniously.

The success of the entire system is dependent on each of the component working perfectly. If one of the components fails in any way, it would mean a failure of the entire air conditioning system to do its function of giving cool or warm air to the interior cabin of your car. Knowing how important each and every component of the AC compressor is to the whole workings of the air conditioning system makes you realize the need to keep them working perfectly. This can only be achieved if each component is well taken care of. Immediately replace the AC compressor if it is malfunctioning.
