Dodge AC Compressor

The AC compressor is often called the heart of the automotive air conditioning system. Just as the human heart would pump blood for the circulatory system, the AC compressor would force the refrigerant to flow in a closed loop through the various parts of the auto AC system. The compressor is actually a mechanical pump driven by a belt connected to the vehicle's engine. It takes in a low pressure refrigerant from the evaporator or in some cases from the accumulator or the receiver-dryer, compresses it into a high pressure and high temperature gas, and pumps it out to the AC condenser for cooling. As such, it is naturally impossible for the auto air conditioning system to work properly without the AC compressor.

As assured as you can be about the quality of your Dodge vehicle as a whole, so can you be assured of the quality of your stock Dodge AC compressor. Damages and the eventual deterioration of the component, however, are inevitable. Poor cooling, noise under your Dodge's dash and a burning smell from the clutch are signs that your Dodge AC compressor is already deteriorating or is already damaged.
